Philips D8614 Stereo Cassette Radio

Excellent Philips boombox / ghetto-blaster style cassette radio made in the early 80s. It gives excellent sound quality thanks to a power of 2x 5w and its 2 150mm speakers and 2 piezo tweeters. Separate bass and treble corrector, it has a "loudness" switch which allows for better sound quality at low power.

It can operate either on 220/240v mains power, or on batteries (8 type R20 or D, not supplied) or on an external power supply ranging from 9 to 14v.

On the radio side, it receives long waves (since January 1, 2023, RTL has stopped broadcasting on long waves just as France Inter and Europe 1 had already done. The BBC remains on this wave range), short waves, short waves and FM. its telescopic antenna is in good condition

For the cassette deck, its gears being defective as in most cases, they are replaced by new ones as well as the belts guaranteeing it a good functioning. A keyboard allows to select the types of cassettes: normal, chrome and metal. It has a counter allowing to be able to locate itself on the location of the recording. For a live recording, it has 2 microphones on the front

A LED display lets you know the battery level, the recording levels for each channel for the cassette part, the reception level for the radio part.

On the rear panel, you can connect to the various jacks: external microphones, a magnetic stereo turntable, a CD player or other on the auxiliary input, it can be connected to an amplifier by the "line out" jacks and it accepts additional 4/8 ohm speakers. It is possible to connect an external antenna by coaxial plug.

Aesthetically, it is in very good condition, note a missing foot but does not prevent its good balance as well as a small scratch on one side (visible in the photos), it has its carrying handle
